Melbourne Zouk hold’s a weekly social dance night every Saturday at the Town Hall Hotel, 288 Bridge Rd, Richmond, where you can dance some of the most popular Latin dance styles: Bachata, Merengue, Zouk Lambada & Salsa. Every Saturday ‘Zouk Hour’ from 9 – 10pm.


Donovan is the Director of Melbourne Zouk/Latinize Dance Company/Victorian Zouk Lambada Championships/Victorian Salsa Open and the World Dance Championships. Donovan has over 20 years experience with many forms of dance including Ballroom, African, Hip Hop and a number of Latin dance styles. Although passionate about Salsa, Zouk Lambada and Samba, Donovan's dance experience also extends to Bachata, Merengue and Rumba.

Melbourne Zouk was created by Donovan in 2009, and is aimed at providing the Melbourne dance community with the opportunity to attend regular weekly Zouk Lambada dance classes and social events. Melbourne Zouk is also Melbourne’s first and only dedicated Zouk Lambada dance academy which is responsible for bringing the best Brazilian dance instructors and DJ’s from interstate and overseas every month to Melbourne. Donovan has also invested an enormous amount of time and effort into the local Latin dance community over the past 2 years by providing free instruction to; and being responsible for training over 70% of the Melbourne’s Zouk Lambada instructors.

In addition to his dancing expertise, Donovan was the producer & choreographer for Rio’s Brazilian Theatre Restaurant, 2009 - 2010 and choreographed for hit TV show ‘Dancing With The Stars’, 2008.

The team from Melbourne Zouk and Latin Dance Company are the current Victorian Salsa Dance Champions. In 2010, Melbourne Zouk has started to diversify its product offering by teaching classes in Salsa (with Travis Kennedy 2 times Victorian Salsa Champion), Brazilian Samba (carnival Samba) and Bachata.

WHAT IS ZOUK? also known as Zouk Lambada?

Zouk Lambada is a sensual dance similiar to lambada, adapted to suit the music and dance styles originating in the French Caribbean and Brazil.  Another variation to Zouk dance is Zouk-Love, both styles danced to Zouk rhythmic music in couples.

Our energetic Latin & Brazilian floorshow is truly something to remember. Its colorful costuming and vibrancy is guaranteed to excite and entertain any audience. We can also assist with event organisation, DJ services and choreography for any occasion.

Classes & Private Lessons

Are you an absolute beginner? Never danced before? No problem… You’ve come to the right place! Our dedicated team of professionals encourages and supports learning in a relaxed and friendly environment with an emphasis on technique through Latin dance and music. We teach various Latin dance styles either in a group class format or privately. Feel free to try both to find out which style of delivery best suits you.
